Greetings Hermits

I was rowing the other day (actually late evening in CET) when suddenly I got kicked out for AFKing :D
Is this a normal thing and if yes, why?
Also, since we're on the topic, I would like to know how the system determines when one is AFK.

I've seen opening / closing chests, breaking / placing blocks are ok.
But just walking up and down counts as idling.

Cheers

Any instance of potentially just holding a button down triggers the base game to assume you're idling. Mouse clicks don't apply, for some reason even if you bind it to a key instead. Chatting also doesnt count toward your activity as well. This is all base game and can be tested in single player.

I understand all these, but isn't there a way to exclude rowing from counting as idling?
Since it obviously isn't

Sorry, we do not know how to change the original coding of minecraft and do not want to add any plugins that changes that which will allow easier exploits by players. Please just turn left and right occasionally when rowing in a boat for an extended period of time.
